Founded in 2003, Hemline is a certified women-owned strategy-focused communications agency located in Downtown Memphis. We collaborate with clients representing companies and organizations of all industries and sizes, on all areas of marketing from strategic planning, branding, advertising and public relations.

We are looking for a dynamic PR Manager to join our team and oversee our media relations, for Hemline as well as our clients. While working closely with account leads, you’ll create public relations and social media strategies, write and distribute press releases, organize PR events, and maintain good relationships with clients and stakeholders. While this is an in-person role, we are open to it being a full or part-time position and will work with you to help balance all you have to juggle.

To be a successful PR Manager at Hemline, you'll need to be a doer who jumps in to help others and exudes a can-do spirit that helps fuel our entrepreneurial and collaborative culture. With a solution-based approach, you can handle any urgent media-related need in a calm and timely manner, display exceptional communication skills and have an acute understanding of client relations.

PR Manager Responsibilities

  • Work with the account lead to develop and implement strategic plans to maintain the brand’s public image.
  • Gather research and data to support those strategies and recommendations.
  • Write and distribute detailed press releases, fact sheets and other content as needed.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with media outlets and journalists to ensure efficient communication and maximum coverage.
  • Schedule and manage press conferences, public events, and interview requests.
  • Manage members of the PR and social media team.
  • Lead weekly internal PR status meetings to review all clients.
  • Analyze and report the outcome of public relations campaigns.
  • Maintain an up-to-date press list of journalists, influencers, and other members of the media.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of each client brand, its products and services, as well as the target audiences’ motivations, to effectively communicate with customers and prospects via the media.
  • Create and maintain strong relationships with company partners and external stakeholders.
  • Track and log all billable hours.
  • Work with Hemline leadership on answering RFPs and new business proposals as it relates to public relations experience and capabilities.

PR Manager Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in public relations, journalism, marketing, communications or a relevant field.
  • At least 5 years of experience working in the public relations industry with a portfolio of successful work.
  • Superb writer who understands that every word can influence, inspire and move someone to act, with a keen eye for editing and knowledge of press release style guides.
  • Excellent knowledge of public relations and social media best practices, brand management, and media strategies.
  • Exceptional communication skills and the ability to collaborate with coworkers, clients and members of the media.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office and, ideally, has a working knowledge or better of Adobe Creative Suite and Squarespace, Canva.
  • Solid customer service and organizational skills and can work well in a fast-paced environment.
  • Natural collaborator who likes working with a team, seeks advice from coworkers and superiors, and participates in improving, growing and promoting the agency.
